A handcrafted cultural prototype created in collaboration with the Métis community.

This board was thoughtfully designed as a hands-on educational piece that allows children to touch, feel, and interact with meaningful symbols of Métis heritage.

Rather than presenting culture as a static image, this board transforms it into an experience. Every element was developed with care, respect, and attention to authenticity.

Cultural Elements Included

• Métis Fiddle
  A functional interactive fiddle with elastic strings, representing music, gathering, and the tradition of Métis jigging. Children can pluck the strings, developing fine motor coordination while engaging with a central cultural symbol.
• Infinity Symbol (∞)
  Laser-cut and mounted as a tactile element, symbolizing the unity and continuity of the Métis Nation.
• Beaded Flower Element
  Inspired by Métis beadwork traditions, this rotating sensory flower allows children to move and observe colorful beads inside a secure acrylic layer.
• Tipi with Lacing
  A functional lacing and fastening element designed to strengthen finger coordination while reflecting traditional forms of shelter and craftsmanship.
• Bison Element with Natural Fur Texture
  A tactile bison centerpiece symbolizing strength, land, and historical significance to Métis people. The textured fur invites sensory exploration.
• Mechanical Gears
  Representing movement, connection, and growth — while also supporting cognitive development and hand-eye coordination.
